The forming of team pink

Three poorly armed hunters ran into the camp, towards the large blue box, filled with hunting supplies, to grab what they could with no consideration for each other. They hadn't been hunting long and this was the first time any of them had attempted hunting together. Leonard, a tall brown haired man with a nervous look about him loaded his crossbow-gun.  The other two hunters ran off into the thick, dark jungle that stood before them.  Leonard, being the analytical person he was, took more interest in the ancient ruins that littered the camp and stretched out into the jungle. The gun wielder couldn't help but wonder where their target, this 'jungle menace', may be lurking.
Jums, a fair haired hunter with a certainly more confident air to him, looked around the thicket of trees and shrubs to see if he could harvest anything useful. He kneeled down amounts a patch of think grass and rummaged for anything he recognised as medicinal. During which, the great sword wielding Mikle, a much larger hunter with tuff of orange hair poking out from under his flimsy helmet, just ran on thinking only of killing the monster he'd been contracted to hunt.

"Moron" Jums thought, ripping up some curative herbs and placing them in a pouch on his belt. "I bet he'll eat into are reward money with costly trips on the emergency escape kitty wagon."

Jums began to ponder on what all three of them were doing there. None of them had much motivation to become hunters and probably would have taken up a career in guild services or blacksmithing had they not been utterly useless at both. Leonard had wasted all his savings on swords only to realise he had no talent at close combat. On top of that Mikle had a 'big sword equals big damage' thing about him that worried Jums's more tactical and speed based approach to hunting.

Elsewhere, Mikle sliced and smashed at a group of raptor-like velosprey, not considering that he had run far from the other two. He was amongst a much more wooded area from which anything could burst from the bushes and attack. Not too far off, a river could be heard under the sound of yet more velosprey screeching and snarling. Though his blade was heavy, he swung the blade with great force through two of blue raptors, cutting them cleanly in half. The powerful swing ended with the tip of his blade buried into the ground ahead of him. From behind he caught a glimps of a paler raptor leaping towards him, beak-like mouth drooling with anticipation, claws readied to rip through Mikle's weak armour and into his flesh.

"Give me a challenge" he roared at the heavens as he dragged his blade into an upswing which sliced straight through the once much more formidable white prey. The two bloodied halves briefly flew through the air above him before crashing to the ground at the same time as Mikle's blade tip. "Surely there is something in this whole jungle worth its hide."

Not moments after shouting these words, Mikle was knocked onto his hands and knees by a strong gust from behind. The ground shook, branches broke and trees snapped. Mikle peered over his shoulder to see a large pink wyvern, with an intimidating beak and great fan-like ears.

"This must be Yian Kut-ku" Mikle laughed, getting back to feet. Rearing with fool hardy anticipation he charged head on at the monster, dragging his massive sword with him through the dirt.

The beast growled, reared back and spat a scorching ball of fire at the great sword-wielding hunter. It hit the ground directly in front of Mikle with a loud, searing blast, sending him flying across the area in flames, over to the bank of the river. However, Mikle was not discouraged as small wave from the river creeped up the bank and over him, putting out the flames. With a gritted smile, Mikle got to his feet and charged the pink beast again. With a solid backswing his hefty blade only managed to graze the fast moving beast, leaving a less than impressive scratch across its beak. Mikle followed on from the weak attack with a sideward swipe, which bounced directly off the wyvern's thick hide. The Kut-ku retaliated quickly, spinning its whole body to deliver a powerful slam from its tale. The attack struck Mikle square in the back sending him once again flying a great distance until landing headfirst a few metres away. He struggled back up and examined his weapon. He noticed that the blade had many chips in it and had dulled from the multiple strikes he'd delivered to the velosprey earlier.

"That's why it failed to cut the Kut-ku. I must sharpen this quickly." He reached to his pocket to find a whetstone with which to do so. "What?" he yelled in confusion finding no whetstone. Mikle swiftly turned to witness a black cat hopping off with the only mini whetstone he had taken from the camp's blue box. The kat-ku charged at him, its mouth flaming with fury. All Mikle could do was block with the wide face of the blunt sword. The beast crashed into the sword full force and sent mikle skimming along the ground still standing. The monster reared up and began jabbing with its gigantic beak towards the cornered hunter. Mikle dropped his guard and ran as quickly as he could from the threat, narrowly dodging the beak that dented deep into the ground with each peck.  Eventually, the target flew off out of what could be described as either boredom or pity.

"What happened?" Mikle heard from across the river. It was Jums who promptly crossed the body of water via a fallen tree.

"Yain kat-ku" said Mikle slightly ashamed, brushing off traces of dirt and soot. "You'd never believe me but this cat stole my mini whetstone right when i needed it."

"Didn't you paintball it?" said Leonard, stumbling out of the bushes behind the two hunters. "If you paintballed it, we could be tracking it right now."

"It wasn't the first thing to come to mind when the huge dragon came running at me" said Mikle defensively. "Besides where were you two? Hiding I'll bet."

"Firstly, Yian kut-ku is a wyvern, not a dragon" said Leonard in a snooty, smug tone "and secondly, I was investigating the surrounding area before engaging in conflict."

" You ran off too far ahead before i could tell where you'd gone.  So i went looking for you. " Jums explained. " I met this very nice red faced old man who kindly gave me a, what he called, a 'special mushroom'."

"You took an unidentified mushroom from a red face old stranger! What's wrong with you?" said Leonard flabbergasted. "It's things like this that make me worry about working with other hunters."

The three of them continued to argue for a while, completely unaware of the kat-ku that had landed right behind them. The pink monster growled and the argument instantly stopped.

"Mikle attack the legs" yelled Jums.

"My swords blunt. I need a whetstone"

"Here." Said Jums, throwing a whetstone at Mikle. "Leonard, protect Mikle while he sharpens. Aim for the beasts head and try not to hit me." Leonard gave a slight nod, stood in front of Mikle and opened fire.

The kat-ku ran straight at Leonard and Mikle but was redirected by a swift strike to head by Jums from his hunter's dagger. He then ran between the beast's legs and swiped continuously. The kat-ku possessing no arms or claws was incapable of reaching Jums and pecked and span wildly in a failing attempt to draw him out. The kat-ku had no choice but to run right at Leonard and Mikle again. Leonard had been firing round after round into the wyvern continuously and now in his panic forgot the crossbow-gun was about to empty. The gun gave a heart sinking click as no shell fired and the beast charged ever closer with a flaming gape. With no time to reload he closed his eyes in fright to hear nothing but a roar and a clank. Leonard opened his eyes and saw that Mikle had finished sharpening and was now blocking the kat-ku who jaws were now locked around both edges of the blade. Leonard took this opportunity to reload. He leaned the gun over Mikle's shoulder and opened fire right into the monster's face. The kat-ku withdrew its beak from the buster sword and in this moment Mikle sideswiped the creature's legs, knocking it to the ground.
By this point, Jums had caught up with the rest of the group and along with Mikle proceeded to swipe, stab and slash the fallen beast. Leonard took this opportunity to combine a couple of materials to make ammo. The kat-ku stood up and ran off in a quick burst of speed, which ended in a clumsy panic induced trip and slide across the ground. Mikle and Jums were in hot pursuit as the kat-ku got to his feet. In a strange last hope of the beast, the kat-ku flew but a few feet off the floor and landed in a ground shacking thud. Jums and Mikle were knocked off their feet and a bit dazed. All they could do was look up to see the pink demon about to blast them with a fireball. Jums stared in shear fright but then, as if from nowhere, a shell hit kat-ku with incredible force and exploded. Jums rolled onto his front and looked back as Leonard loaded another shell. He fired and stumbled back a few steps as a result of the kickback from the powerful shell. Once again, It hit the kat-ku in the head and due to its enormous ears the noise of the explosive sent it into a state of shock. Mikle and Jums took full advantage of this and struck at wyvern again and again as it wobbled with its head to the sky. The kat-ku shook off its confusion and flung its wings open and began to ascend in a desperate attempt to flee.

"No you don't!" Leonard taunted, firing another large explosive round at the beast, which tore the webbing off its' wings and caused it to falling crashing to the ground.

"Die!" yelled Jums and Mikle as they simultaneously drove their blades into the wyvern's skull. The kat-ku raised its head, gaving a weak final roar and before collapsing.

The three hunters pulled out their carving knives with victorious delight. Each of them taking the guild regulated three carves per kat-ku.

"So are we gonna make armour out of him?" said Leonard, placing a clump of meat and scales in his supply bag.

"Nah, we need to kill a few more to get a full armour set." Replied Jums, holstering his carving knife.

"More?" Leonard exclaimed. "Well if you guys are up for it?"

"Of course" said Jums. "Mikle?"

Mikle paused for a few moment at the both of them then at the kat-ku and finally at his great sword.

"You guys won't get far without my skill and I guess you do cut off a few minutes from killing him" he jested. "I guess we're a team then. A team who's gonna be wearing kat-ku stuff. Pink kat-ku stuff."

"Well of course we'd wear pink stuff," Leonard said making sure both guys wear listening. "What else would 'team pink' wear?" Jums, Leonard and Mikle looked at each other, Nodded and began their walk home. Each with a feeling that as a team great things were going to happen to them.
